The House of Representatives has resolved to probe the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) over delays in the execution of the Nigeria Electricity and Gas Improvement Project (NEGIP) worth about $300 million.

Consequently, the House mandated its committee on power to investigate the circumstances that led to the delays and report back for further action.

Adopting a motion by Rep Yunusa Ahmad Abubakar (APC, Gombe), the House said the non-implementation of the project would not augur well for the Nigerian power sector.

Leading debate on the motion, Rep Abubakar said there was a negotiation between TCN and the World Bank of the sum of $468 million under International Development Association (IDA) for the proposed Nigeria Electricity Transmission Project (NETAP)
